Born in the third century on an unspecified date and died on October 13, 304, it is known that he was a Christian soldier, other news is uncertain.

According to tradition, he served in the Roman garrison assigned to Cupra, which was the subject of one of the worst waves of persecution of Christians by the then emperor Diocletian.

The soldier Benedict refused to abjure the Christian faith and for this, on October 13, 304, he was first beheaded at the bridge of the Menocchia stream and then thrown into the same water course, where the current ended his body in the sea.
