Located at the far end of Central America, Panama borders Colombia to the west, effectively joining north and south America.

The state is washed by both the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, connected together by the Panama Canal, internationally known as a transit route for ships.


The territory is affected by various mountain ranges, with jagged coasts and numerous islands, especially located in the Pacific Ocean.

The climate is Caribbean, therefore characterized by hot summers and rainy winters.

What see

Panama, the country's cosmopolitan capital overlooking the Pacific Ocean, is located at the entrance to the Canal.


Panama Viejo, the first European settlement on the American Pacific coast, was founded in 1519 by the Spanish conquistador Pedrarias Dávila, the site had been discovered in 1513 by Vasco Nunez de Balboa.

It became the starting point for the first explorations along the Pacific coast.

The ruins of Panama Viejo, which are located on the edge of the capital characterized by modern skyscrapers, have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, together with the old walls of Casco Viejo, the town that arose in 1670 on the site where the original center, destroyed by the pirate Henry Morgan.


The modern part of the capital expanded from the early twentieth century, when work began on the construction of the canal.

Boquete is a town in the Chiriqui province, located on the border with Costa Rica.

The islands boast a very varied natural environment, with luxuriant rain forests, rich in fauna and flora, and sunny beaches lapped by the crystal clear sea.

The San Blas Archipelago stretches with a series of islands, almost 400, along the Caribbean coast, from the Gulf of San Blas to almost the border with Colombia, a few miles from the coast.

The islands, characterized by white sand beaches with coconut palms, are surrounded by beautiful lagoons protected by coral reefs.

A stay on these islands allows you to get to know the indigenous population of the Kuna, custodians of very ancient traditions and customs, linked to the rhythms of nature.


Their economy is mainly based on the sale of coconuts, fishing and tourism.

The best season to visit Panama coincides with the period of the dry season, which runs from mid-December to mid-April.
