Psalm 132: complete, commentary

post-title

CommentPsalm 132 is full of words of supplication to God and this removes any doubt from the fact that it was written in a certainly difficult period. The subject we are talking about is most likely King Josiah, who went out of his way to stop the evil spread by King Manasseh. He asks the Lord for help to renew his people and make them capable of a great love for God.

Psalm 132 complete

[1] Song of the Ascensions. Remember, Lord, David, of all his trials,

[2] when he swore to the Lord, to the mighty one of Jacob he vowed:

[3] "I will not enter under the roof of my house, I will not lie down on my bed,

[4] I will not grant sleep to my eyes nor rest to my eyelids,

[5] until you find a home for the Lord, a home for the Powerful One of Jacob. "

[6] Behold, we learned that it was in Efrata, we found it in the fields of Jair.

[7] We enter his home, prostrate ourselves on the stool of his feet.

[8] Arise, Lord, to the place of your rest, you and the ark of your power.

[9] Let your priests clothe themselves with justice, your faithful sing with joy.

[10] For the sake of David your servant, do not reject the face of your consecrated person.

[12] If your children keep my covenant and the precepts I will teach them, their children will also sit forever on your throne. "

[13] The Lord chose Zion, he wanted it for his home:

[14] “This is my rest forever; I will live here because I wanted it.

[16] I will clothe his priests with salvation, and his faithful will rejoice with joy.

[17] There I will bring forth the power of David, I will prepare a lamp for my consecrated one.

[18] I will cover his enemies with shame, but the crown will shine on him. "
