Agropoli (Campania): what to see

post-title

What to see in Agropoli, itinerary including the main monuments and places of interest, including the Angevin Aragonese Castle, the Madonna di Costantinopoli Church and the Antiquarium.

Tourist information

Located on a promontory overlooking the sea, Agropoli is considered the gateway to the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park.

The coastal strip of Agropoli is varied, characterized by large inlets and long beaches between Salerno and Paestum.

Trentova and Vallone are the two most beautiful beaches in Agropoli, those that have been decisive in awarding the blue flag.

The historic center of Agropoli, developed during the Middle Ages, is accessed through the ascent of the stairs, formed by a series of wide and low steps that lead up to the access door of the old village surrounded by walls.

Leaning against each other, the houses of the historic center are separated by narrow streets and stairs that go down to the sea, reaching the small fishing port.

What see

At the top of the promontory is the Castle, dating back to the Angevin-Aragonese period, from which you can admire a beautiful panorama of the coast.

The triangular castle complex includes 3 circular towers and is surrounded by a fairly deep moat.

Inside the fortress there is the parade ground, an evocative setting for the historical, folkloric and musical events held there during the summer.

Noteworthy are also the Church of Our Lady of Constantinople, in Baroque style, the Church of the Santissimi Pietro e Paolo and the Torre San Marco.

Near the port is the Antiquarium, a place where the most significant evidence of the city's history is kept.
