post-title

What to see in Alleghe, center in the province of Belluno, short history of the lake and excursions to do, including Rocca Pietore, Serrai di Sottoguida, Malga Ciapela and Marmolada.

Tourist information

Despite its small size, Alleghe is a center of considerable importance in the suggestive scenario of the Dolomites, located on the banks of the lake of the same name and dominated by the summit of Monte Civetta.

The particular geographical position makes it a very popular place in the tourism sector, ideal as a starting point for summer excursions and for winter sports.

The Alleghe lake, which originated in 1771 along the Cordevole as a consequence of a devastating landslide detached from Mount Piz, following which the three villages of Riete, Fusine and Marin were completely buried.

The lake initially reached almost to the town of Caprile, subsequently due to the sedimentation of debris, a rapid rise of the valley bottom occurred, which caused a gradual narrowing of the lake until it reached its present location.
