Located in the heart of Europe, Alsace is bordered by Lorraine to the west which offers many natural, architectural and cultural treasures including forests, the Vosges mountain range, picturesque flower villages, mysterious medieval castles, Romanesque churches.

In the territory of Alsace there are two departments, the Lower Rhine, located in the north, and the Upper Rhine, located in the south.


13 arrondissements, 75 cantons and 904 municipalities are included in the region.

It is well known for the famous wine route and for the breweries as well as for the ancient traditions including Alsatian culinary specialties to be tasted in typical inns and typical Christmas markets.

What see

The Bas-Rhin invites visitors to visit Strasbourg, famous for its enchanting old town with its Gothic cathedral, for the Mont Sainte-Odile and its convent, for the grandiose Haut-Koenigsbourg castle and for the ancient villages.

The Upper Rhine instead presents a perfect whole where nature, culture and traditions merge, with the Ballons des Vosges regional natural park, the well-known museums of Mulhouse and Colmar, the colorful villages along the wine route.

Other cities in Alsace are Saverne, Munster, Saint Hippolyte, Orbey, Kaysersberg, Guebwiller, Turckeim, Haguenau, Bergheim, Mittelbergheim, Thannenkirch, Kintzheim, Barr and Soufflenheim.
