He was born in Tagaste in Africa in 331 to a Christian family.

Given in marriage to Patrick, at a very young age, she had several children, including Augustine, for whose conversion she shed many tears and raised many prayers to God.

Great example of an authentically holy mother, she kept her faith alive with prayer and manifested it with virtues.

He died in Ostia in 387.

His body was buried in the place where the church of Sant'Aurea di Ostia was later erected.

On 9 April 1430 his relics were moved to Rome in the church of San Trifone, today of Sant'Agostino, and placed in a precious sarcophagus made by Isaiah of Pisa in the fifteenth century).
