The Saint of the day August 3 is Santa Lidia di Filippi, which name day is celebrated and other saints who are celebrated on this date.
Santa Lidia di Filippi
Santa Lidia is considered the first believer and baptized of the Roman colony of Philippi, made famous a century earlier, by the struggles between Caesar and Pompey.
A generous and very hospitable woman, Lidia hosted her home in San Paolo and the small group of Apostles and disciples who followed him during his preaching.
During their stay in Philippi, San Paolo and San Sila were imprisoned and scourged as disturbers of public peace.
Later released as Roman citizens, before leaving the city, they passed for the last time from Lydia's house to greet the new Christians who had meanwhile gathered around the one who had been the first convert of the place.
