How to make baked pork shanks, a recipe that involves sprinkling with a mixture of thyme, juniper berries, onion and garlic, to be bathed in white wine during cooking.


Ingredients for 4 people

- 2 pork shanks

- 2 cloves of garlic


- 60 g of white onion

- 5 juniper berries

- 5 sprigs of thyme


- 2 tablespoons of white flour

- 6 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

- 1 glass of white wine


- salt and pepper

How to prepare baked pork shanks

Peel the onion and garlic cloves and finely chop them.

Also chop the thyme leaves with the juniper berries and mix them together with the chopped onion and prepared garlic.

With this mixture sprinkle the entire surface of the shins, then salt and pepper them evenly and sprinkle them with half extra virgin olive oil.

Leave the shins to rest in a covered container for about half an hour.

Meanwhile, turn on the oven at 180 ° C and lightly flour the meat.

Heat the rest of the olive oil in a container suitable also for the oven.

When the oil is hot, put the floured shins in it and brown them on a moderate flame for about 5/10 minutes, bathing them with white wine.

At this point put the shanks in the oven and cook them for about an hour.


Serve the shanks in slices.
