Tourist information

Campania is a region of southern Italy, washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea and bordering Lazio, Molise, Puglia and Basilicata. Its provinces are Avellino, Benevento, Caserta, Naples and Salerno.

The territory of Campania is mainly occupied by hills whose altitude varies from 300 to 500 meters above sea level, while just over a third of the surface has a mountainous character, among the main reliefs stand out the Matese mountains, the Picentini mountains, the Monti del Cilento.

The plains overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, such as the plains of Garigliano and Basso Volturno, Sarno and Sele, and those that extend inside, cover the rest of the Campania region, which is also distinguished by areas of volcanic nature, represented from the vast area of the Phlegraean Fields and from volcanic reliefs, the most famous of which is Vesuvius, which dominates the Gulf of Naples and is still active.

What see

The territory of Campania is endowed with extraordinary natural beauties, which combined with the numerous testimonies of ancient civilizations, such as the remains of Paestum, Herculaneum and Pompeii, and with the monuments inherited by the peoples who over the centuries have been the protagonists of its history, make this region, whose main center is the capital Naples, a land of great artistic and cultural value.

The coasts of Campania develop for a long stretch on the Tyrrhenian Sea, partly with sandy beaches and partly with high and rocky walls, forming the Gulf of Gaeta, between Lazio and Campania, the Gulf of Naples, the Gulf of Salerno and the Gulf of Policastro which also marks a stretch of coast of Basilicata and Calabria.

Between the gulf of Naples and that of Sorrento stretches the Sorrento peninsula, with the homonymous coast, on the side overlooking the gulf of Naples, and the Amalfi coast on the side facing the gulf of Salerno, famous places all over the world for the extraordinary beauty of the landscape.

The famous islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida rise in front of the Gulf of Naples.
