Located in Abruzzo and immersed in the Maiella National Park near the Orfento Valley and the Orta River, Caramanico Terme has an upper part, where the castle is located, and a lower part where there is the historical inhabited center, with a narrow shape and elongated, characterized by its typical walled houses.

Worth visiting are the churches of Santa Maria Maggiore, dating back to the 15th century and built in Romanesque-Gothic style, San Lorenzo dei Cappuccini, San Tommaso, San Nicola, which houses inside a silver cross dating back to the end of the 15th century, San Maurizio and the Convent of the Poor Clares.

For nature lovers, the Orfento Nature Reserve and the Museum of Italian Fauna are available, housed within the spa complex.

What see

Known since 1576 for its thermal baths, Caramanico is renowned above all for the properties of its thermal waters which are sulphurous and salsobromoiodic.

Thanks to their characteristics, these waters are considered useful to treat rheumatic, nervous, skin and gynecological diseases, as well as for the beneficial effects on the respiratory, digestive and urinary systems.

The thermal waters of Caramanico Terme are also recommended for those suffering from pancreatic diabetes and rhinogenous deafness.

During the summer months Carmanico is one of the favorite destinations for hikers, who come here from all over attracted by the landscape and the hiking trails that lead to the hermitages of Celestino V and the stone tholos of the ancient shepherds.
