Tourist information

The Cavoli island is located along the south-eastern coast of Sardinia, in front of Capo Carbonara, it is part of the Municipality of Villasimius in the province of Cagliari.

The island of granite nature has a remarkable naturalistic and geological value, is covered in Mediterranean scrub, has a jagged coast with small beaches.


On the top of the island, 40 meters above sea level, there is a lighthouse that was built around 1856 including a Spanish watchtower dating back to the end of the 16th century.

The lighthouse is used by the University of Cagliari for scientific purposes.

The sea surrounding the island is included in the protected marine area of ​​Capo Carbonara.


On the seabed of the island of Cavoli there is a statue representing the Madonna of the shipwreck, dedicated to the Madonna di Bonaria, patroness of Sardinia and protector of mariners, is celebrated every year in July.

The jagged coasts of the island are characterized by small inlets, surrounded by imposing granite rock walls.

Excursions

- Cala di Ponente, with a narrow and long long shape, equipped to accommodate small boats.


- Cala del Morto, located to the south, owes its name to a human corpse carried by the currents of the sea.

- Cala del Ceppo, name deriving from what remains of an ancient cut tree.
