Cetraro (Calabria): what to see

post-title

What to see in Cetraro, itinerary of the historic center including the church of San Benedetto and the Church of the Retreat, with a view of the sea from the maritime Belvedere and boat trips to the caves of Marina di Cetraro.

Tourist information

The name Cetraro originates from the on-site cultivation of cedars of the "Citrarum" species.

The town stands on a rocky outcrop on the coast, located south of Capo Bonifati.

The visit of the historical center is very suggestive, which stands out for having very narrow streets, where the main monuments to visit are the church of San Benedetto, in baroque style and with three naves inside, and the church of the Retreat, dedicated to Santa Maria delle Grazie, where there is a marble complex dating back to 1533 by the sculptor Mazzolo.

What see

From a religious point of view, it is worth visiting the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Serra, open every day and with mass on holidays.

A wonderful view of the sea is possible if you look out from the Maritime Belvedere, where there is a castle with some well-preserved rooms.

In Marina di Cetraro, which is the seaside village of the country and where the greatest tourist flow is reached during the summer months, it is possible to make boat trips to the caves along the cliff.
