Tourist information

Developed around the castle dating back to the tenth century, Conegliano is a village of medieval origin that became a free municipality in the thirteenth century, before becoming the domain of the Treviso, Ezzelini, della Scala and Carrara families.

At the end of the fourteenth century he passed to Venice, with which he remained until the arrival of Napoleon.

Of the original structure of the castle, called Castelvecchio, only long stretches of walls remain, in addition to the Torre Mozza and the Torre della Campana.

In the Torre della Campana there is the Civic Museum of the castle, which contains collections of various historical testimonies, as well as paintings by Palma il Giovane, Francesco da Milano, frescoes by Pordenone and a sculpture by Arturo Martini.

The oratory of Sant’Orsola was built in the apse of the ancient Church of San Leonardo.

Enclosed within the city walls is the historic center, crossed by via XX Settembre, overlooked by fifteenth and sixteenth-century buildings, with remarkable frescoed facades, including Casa Colussi, Casa Piutti and the former Monte di Pietà, which contains works by Pordenone.

What see

In the same street is the fourteenth-century cathedral, with a Gothic portico and a fifteenth-century bell tower.

The portico, with a nine-arched structure, includes remarkable three-light windows in the upper part, as well as frescoes by Pozzoserrato, depicting scenes from the Old Testament.

Inside the Cathedral, at the main altar is the Madonna and Enthroned Altarpiece, a magnificent work by Cima da Conegliano.

In the right nave there is a painting by Beccaruzzi, which depicts San Francesco receiving the Stigmata.
