The Saint of the 3 December is Saint Francis Xavier, which name day is celebrated and other saints who are celebrated on this date.
Saint Francis Xavier
Born in Xavier in Navarre, the place from which the name Saverio derives, Francesco died in Singapore on December 3, 1552.
Francis Xavier was the most zealous missionary of all time and for this reason he was declared patron of the missions together with Saint Teresina of Lisieux.
After completing his studies in Paris, where he met Saint Ignatius of Loyola with whom he founded the Society of Jesus, he went first to Venice, to be ordained a priest and then to Rome.
Here he got the job of going to announce the good news in Goa, a colony of Portugal.
He later went to Japan, then attempted to reach China, but was struck by an illness that led to his death.
The life of Francesco Saverio was marked by that of a true apostle who is not afraid.
In fact, he left without everything, armed only with the rosary and the breviary, in the certainty that the Lord would never abandon him.
He announced the word of God in unknown lands, without knowing its uses and customs, nor the language, which is why he often fell victim to dangerous misunderstandings.
But his charitable ways were understood by many and this made him obtain the title of great father from his faithful.
