The Saint of the day 8 December is Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which name day is celebrated and other saints who are celebrated on this date.
In the western world, Mary's immaculate theory met with considerable resistance to keep the doctrine of Redemption steadfast, operated only by virtue of Christ's sacrifice.
Mary, without original sin, would not have needed the sacrifice of Jesus and therefore the Redemption would not have been universal.
The Franciscan Giovanni Duns, who lived in the 14th century, explained how the Madonna had also been redeemed, but beforehand, before and outside of time.
She was preserved from original sin in anticipation of the merits of her divine Son.
The Immaculate Conception will be proclaimed only a few centuries later, on December 8, 1854 by Pope Pius IX, thus satisfying the same request of the Virgin who appeared in 1830 to Saint Catherine Labourè as conceived without sin.
In the bull Ineffabilis Deus, it is established that the Virgin Mary was immune from original sin from the first moment of her conception.
This dogma of the Catholic Church should not be confused with Mary's virginal conception of Jesus.
According to Catholic thought, in fact, every human being is born with original sin and only the Mother of Christ was exempt from it.
In anticipation of the coming and mission to the Land of the Messiah, God wanted Mary to be a creature devoid of original sin, so that she could keep the Son of God perfectly in her womb.
