Construction of the pyramids

The Egyptian pyramids, ancient funerary buildings in Egypt with a square base and intended for worship, are formed by four smooth faces that join the corners of the base to the pyramidion, or the monolithic pyramidal cusp of the pyramids representing the sacred stone of Benben.

In local mythology, Benben represented the hill emerged from the ocean of the Nun where the god Atum self-generated with the first divine couple.

Pyramids of Giza

The pyramids of Egypt were built as funerary monuments above the tomb of the sovereign having increasing dimensions over time until the climax of the pyramid of Cheops.

This pyramid is located near Giza, also commonly known as the Great Pyramid, it is the only pyramid in Egypt to have survived over time.

The construction is attributed to Cheope, belonging to the fourth dynasty of the Egyptian pharaohs, who erected it as a funeral monument.

Interior of the pyramids

No burial was found inside, due to the numerous looting carried out in ancient times in the tombs of the royalty to remove all the precious goods buried together with their respective sovereigns.

The pyramid of Cheops differs from the others for the large number of passages and housings as well as for the great finishing of the internal works and for a great construction accuracy.

With the deposition of the sovereign inside the pyramid, the aim was to guarantee his life beyond death in the underworld.

There was the funeral chamber, where the mummified body of the pharaoh was deposited.

The construction technique was certainly of a high standard for that time, with the use of stone tools and heavy building blocks transported on special slides through the use of numerous animals and shooting men.
