Lived in the second century in Asia Minor, Nestor was bishop of the city of Magydos, in the Roman province of Panfilia, corresponding to present-day Turkey, and was martyred during the persecutions of Decius.

Thanks to his generosity and wisdom, as well as for the industriousness and sense of justice that characterized him, Nestor was much admired and respected by everyone, including the pagans and his persecutors.

When the emperor issued the edict with which he forced the Christians to deny their faith, Nestor first thought of rescuing the whole Christian community, then remained waiting in his house for the arrival of the soldiers, without losing the opportunity to say some prayers.

Transferred to Perge on February 26, 251, while he was being brought to court, the city was affected by an earthquake.

Having refused to renounce his Christian faith before the judge, Nestor was first tortured and then crucified before a crowd of faithful who prayed intensely for him.
