The Saint of the 5 February is Sant’Agata, which name day is celebrated and other saints who are celebrated on this date.
Sant'Agata
Saint Agatha lived in the third century, when she was Quinzian proconsul, she is venerated as Saint by the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church.
For her extraordinary beauty and noble origins, Agata aroused the desire of the Consul Quinziano to marry her.
But being now determined to consecrate herself totally to God, Agata firmly rejected the marriage proposal received.
The consul, in the extreme attempt to make her change her mind, resorted first to magic, but obviously without success, then angrily decided to denounce her as a Christian while the persecution wanted by Decius was taking place in about the year 250.
Subjected to the arrests, once again the girl refused with decision to deny her Christian faith and for this she was thrown among the hot coals, after her breasts had been brutally torn.
Sant’Agata is the patron saint of bell founders, women with breast cancer and all women in general.
