Flash camera: what it is used for, types and uses

post-title

How to connect and features of the camera flash, a device capable of emitting flashes of light for a short period of time, illuminating the subjects to be photographed.

Connect camera flash

This device is used to emit flashes of light for a very short period of time in sync with the opening of a camera shutter.

The flashes currently on the market are electronic flashes of various power expressed with the term "guide number".

They are able to guarantee optimal lighting in various photographic situations with the aid of computerized control units inside them.

There are cameras with built-in flash which compared to external flashes is generally limited in power and autonomy.

External flash camera

The external flashes have an independent power supply compared to the built-in ones which instead are powered by the same battery of the camera.

The most common ones have a "slide" coupling to fix them in the upper part of the camera.

They differ in the illuminating power expressed in the guide number.

The cheapest ones generally with a 50mm lens can illuminate up to 5 meters with a good aperture.

Using the camera flash

The most frequent use of the flash is to illuminate a subject taken in insufficient light conditions to obtain a correct exposure or to shorten the excessively long exposure time that can cause a blur effect.

But in some cases it is useful for taking pictures in bright light, for example to illuminate a subject that is in the shade or in backlight.
