Initially born to replace Microsoft Paint, included together with Windows, Paint.NET has evolved a lot becoming a complete and easy-to-use tool.

From the manufacturer's website you can download useful plug-ins to expand the program's functionality, including for example the one that allows you to correct the classic red-eye effect from flash and the one that allows you to balance the white.
Among the various functions, the image explorer to manage the image preview before saving, the acquisition of images from a flat or slide scanner and the graphic effects on the text deserves to be mentioned.
This program is free for non-commercial use only and is available in various languages, including Italian, by downloading and installing the desired language file from the manufacturer's website.
