Haiti (Caribbean): what to see

post-title

What to see in Haiti, a Caribbean country that shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic, an itinerary including the main places of interest in the state, including the best beaches and the capital Port au Prince.

Tourist information

Haiti is a state corresponding to the western part of the island of Hispaniola in the Greater Antilles, located east of Cuba and Jamaica.

The territory of Haiti is largely mountainous with very indented coasts.

Having become an independent state for over 2 centuries, Haiti remained underdeveloped due to a poor management of local politics, under the dictatorship of Francois Duvalier, who had established a very harsh regime and this caused a large part of the population to flee.

Fortunately, this sad period ended in the nineties of the last century and since then the machine of development has been very slowly activated in various sectors including tourism, making us hope to have soon more and more opportunities to visit these wonderful places mortified in the past.

What see

Kyona and Ibo beaches are the best beaches for swimming, snorkeling, underwater fishing, sailing, canoeing and water skiing, while Gonave is very popular for fishing.

The capital Port au Prince is a lively city with a population of almost 1 million inhabitants.

Places to visit include the market, the cathedral, the Museum of Haitian art, the statue of the Unknown Slave, the Gingerbread Houses and the Defly Mansion.

Petionville has some of the city's best restaurants, shops and nightlife spots.
