Easy method to clean the sink siphon

Periodically it happens that you have to clean the sink siphon, when the water is struggling to go away or the drain is totally clogged with debris of various kinds.

The main causes include detergents, leftovers from food and hair, which together with other elements form a real cap in combination.

What is needed

- 1 rag

- 1 bucket

- 1 pipe pliers

- 1 toothbrush

Procedure to follow

We place the bucket under the siphon to be disassembled, in order to prevent water and other residues from dirtying the floor.

We wrap the nut, in several plastic cases, with the rag, which is necessary to unscrew to disconnect the siphon from the fittings that make up the remaining part of the drain system.

Tighten the rag on the nut with one hand and start turning to unscrew, if it is very tight, use the pliers over the rag to avoid damaging the component.

Once the siphon is disassembled, use the brush to clean it internally, eliminating any accumulation of dirt.

After this, rinse carefully and reassemble in the reverse order of the previous procedure, taking care to reposition the rubber gasket between the external surface of the upper tube and the lower base of the plastic nut.

If you find it necessary to replace the siphon, before reassembling it, go to a specialized hydraulic dealer to purchase an equivalent spare part.
