How to make the crib at home: tips, houses and figurines

post-title

Tips on how to make the crib at home, the story of each piece and character finds new life every year in the classic home representation of the birth of Jesus.

Building a crib

When Christmas approaches, a dusty box from the attic enters the room dedicated to the crib.

With a single glance inside, we find statuettes, little houses and sheep, ready to do their part like every year.

Each piece has its own story and each character is like a friend that we haven't seen for some time, the shepherd boy to whom we are most fond, who we always put in the place of honor, the little old and worn figure, but which we respectfully maintain in his role, the prettiest sheep to whom we give more visibility, the hut with the nativity and the three kings, whom we greet each year with tenderness.

Once he used to go to collect moss in the woods, now there are rules to be respected and perhaps it is better to buy it in the shop.

However, moss, tree bark, dry branches and some pine cones are part of the more traditional elements for setting up a crib.

On a table of the desired size we put a wrapping paper or other type, and then lay the moss on it and arrange the tree bark so as to enliven the landscape with small mountains, plateaus and hillocks.

With the bark we can also make the hut of the nativity, the fulcrum of the whole crib.

Once the landscape has been created, and after arranging the colored or white lights, the various characters are placed, the little houses, the sheep and all the finishing touches with the twigs, the pine cones, the pond with tinfoil, and some pebbles to mark the path to the shepherd children.
