post-title

What to see in India, 7-day itinerary taken from the story of a travel experience lived by some friends, with detailed indication of the places visited and personal impressions.

Tourist information

Last summer, with a group of friends, we decided to make an alternative vacation by going to India.

We booked everything through the internet.

We left Milan Linate airport with a non-direct Alitalia flight, with a stop at the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris from where we moved to a larger plane to Delhi.

What see

New Delhi

Capital of India, New Delhi is a metropolitan city with disordered traffic, which produces a high level of pollution between cars, buses and motorcycles. Among the many motor vehicles, we have also seen motor scooters which are characteristic taxis on which up to 10 people can travel.

Very beautiful is the Sikh Bangla Saheb temple, made of white marble and golden domes, which incorporates a tub where water flows to which miraculous powers are attributed that can cure many skin diseases and where we realize the deeply spiritual characteristics of the people. Indian.

On the evening of the same day we return to the very elegant booked hotel, The Metropolitan Hotel New Delhi where, after having refreshed ourselves in the rooms, being tired of the journey, we decide to have dinner in the excellent hotel restaurant.

The next day we visit the government buildings, Humayun's tomb and head towards Jaipur, a city characterized by pink palaces that revive the ancient splendors. We then climb to the Amber fort, made in the shape of an elephant's back, from where you can admire a beautiful panorama of the city that offers us the opportunity to take wonderful photos.

Rajasthan, in the center of Jaipur, is full of buildings built around 1600, in perfect state of conservation, which testify to the period of the glories related to the Mughal dynasty. We admire the splendid facade of the Palace of Winds, where the women of Maraja lived, the City Palace with the attached museum, which was the residence of the royal dynasty of Jaipur as well as an astronomical observatory.

We continue our journey to Agra, the city of the Taj Mahal, where we realize a widespread poverty among the population, among hungry children who beg for money and roads with mountains of garbage. The Taj Mahal is a place built in white marble by King Akbar to commemorate the death of his wife and is considered the symbol of love without time limits, remembering Princess Mumtaz, who died in giving birth to the fourteenth child.

Orcha

Continuing our tourist route we arrive in Orcha, a very fascinating area full of Hindu temples dating back to 1000 AD. and not yet invaded by mass tourism. The population of Orcha is generally well-off, thanks to the water resources due to the Yamuna river which allows the maintenance of a thriving agriculture which allows farmers and breeders to live in decent brick houses.

Kajuraho

Temples dedicated to Visnù are located in Kajuraho, containing many erotic depictions, with beautiful statues that emanate the millennial culture of this people.

Varanasi

With a short internal flight of about half an hour we arrive in Varanasi which is the sacred city of Hinduism located on the Ganges river where mystical silence reigns. Here we can witness the Aarti puja, a prayer composed by the Brahmins for the purification of the river from all the sins absorbed during the day for the washing of the pilgrims in its waters.

Return to Italy

With this we have concluded our unforgettable holiday in India and for the return journey we take the plane back to Delhi, this time of the airline Klm Royal Dutch Airlines, not direct by calling in Amsterdam in Holland with a change of plane from the same reliable company, for Milan Linate.
