Saints Joachim and Anna, born in the first century BC and died in the first century AD, they were the parents of the Virgin Mary Mother of Jesus.

Traditionally, Anna and Gioacchino, when Maria was still young, are believed to have lived in Jerusalem near the current Porta dei Leoni, located in the north-eastern part of the old city, where the remains of the Bethesda swimming pool are located.
