Saints Nazario and Celso martyrs
Nazario and Celso, who died in Milan in 304, were two Christian martyrs, whose bodies were found by St. Ambrose in 395 buried in a field just outside the city of Milan.
One of the bodies, beheaded but intact, was believed to be that of Nazario who was transported in front of Porta Romana where a basilica was erected in his honor, while a basilica was erected on the bones of the other body, believed to be that of Celsus.
Nazario had preached in Italy, in Trier and in Gaul, where he baptized Celsus who was only nine years old.
Their martyrdom took place in Milan in 304, during the persecution of Diocletian.
