Klm, the Dutch acronym for Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij which translated into Italian means royal aviation company, is the main Dutch airline and has the Amsterdam Schiphol airport as its main hub.

Born in 1919, it is the airline that has been operating under the same name for the longest time and the first flight was made in May 1920 with two British journalists and a pack of newspapers on board.
Klm has Klm Cityhopper, Klm Cargo and Klm exel as sub-companies.
It also holds shares in other companies such as Transavia Airlines of which it owns 80%, Martinair (50%) and Kenya Airways (26%).
Klm is an airline flight company listed on the Amsterdam, New York and Paris stock exchanges.
In September 2003, KLM was incorporated into Air France with the maintenance of its original identity for at least a few years after which it would be completely merged with Air France for all the operations of administration and management of air flights.
In September 2004 Klm and the American Northwest Airlines its affiliate become part of SkyTeam, an alliance of airlines which also includes Alitalia.
