post-title

What to see at Lake Iseo, a one-day itinerary including the main places of interest in the area, including Monte Isola and Santuario, as well as pleasant excursions and walks.

Tourist information

Lake Iseo is a pre-Alpine lake located in Lombardy, in the lower Val Camonica, between the provinces of Brescia and Bergamo.

The Oglio river, which enters the lake to the north, between Lòvere and Pisogne, and exits to the south, near Sarnico, constitutes the main inlet and outlet.

In the part where the lake is wider, Monte Isola rises, 600 meters above sea level, the largest island among those of the Italian lakes, with a perimeter of about nine kilometers, on its top stands the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Ceriola, magnificent panoramic point.

The islets of Loreto and San Paolo are located north and south of Monte Isola respectively.

The connections between the island and the mainland, very frequent, unite the towns of Sulzano and Peschiera, Sale Marasino and Carzano.

The island is an ideal place for walking or cycling, since there are no cars, but only vehicles intended for public transport and motorcycles.

What see

Through an easy route it is possible to complete the entire tour of the island, surrounded by nature and silence, while for a wonderful panoramic view of Lake Iseo and its shores, it is necessary to make a more demanding journey, to reach the summit of Monte Isola, where the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Ceriola is located.

Along the mountain sides and on the lake shore, villages with ancient traditions arise, such as that of drying fish in the sun on special wooden arches.

Siviano, the capital of the island located at an altitude of 250 meters, and the villages that are located at higher altitudes, are appreciated for the production of oil, wine and a typical salami of this island.

On the south-eastern shore is the town of Iseo, the main tourist center of the lake.
