Tourist information

The name Medjugorje, of Slavic origin, means region between two mountains and about 5000 inhabitants live on its territory.

Until June 24, 1981, people lived modestly in Medjugorje by working the land as in other villages in this region.

After this date the life of the parish of San Giacomo has changed as the Madonna has chosen the visionaries, the parish and numerous pilgrims who come here to be his witnesses and collaborators so that peace reigns among men and many convert to Christ finding the Faith only source of true joy.

Since then the apparitions of Our Lady began in Medjugorje and the place has become a great place of worship and Catholic faith.

Over the years, pilgrims traveling to Medjugorje have had miraculous cases of diseases considered by science to be incurable.

Since the Madonna first appeared to the then boys, today all adults, on the hill behind their houses, years of recurring apparitions have begun, in which new messages are released from the Virgin Mary.

In over 30 years of messages, Our Lady in Medjugorje, called the Queen of Peace, presents herself not only as a mother but also as a very special life teacher.

All the messages announce nothing new to the Christian message, but the words of Mary spoken to the visionaries are full of immense love for her children, to such an extent that they often cry with joy when they receive them.

Our Lady wants to protect the world and bring comfort in times of trial, bringing hope to those who entrust themselves to the Lord.

Over the years, he has accompanied and guided believers with his messages, lovingly exhorting them to renew their personal spirituality.
