Nervi (Genoa): what to see

post-title

What to see in Nervi, itinerary including the main places of interest, including the church of San Siro, the municipal park and the love walk on the sea named after Anita Garibaldi.

Tourist information

Falling in the municipality of Genoa, Nervi is a holiday resort located east of the regional capital of Liguria.

The Church of San Siro, whose original layout dates back to the thirteenth century, was rebuilt and enlarged in the Baroque period, the Romanesque façade remains of the old church.

In the frescoed interior there is a sixteenth-century panel depicting San Siro and two Saints, a work attributed to Sacchi.

The municipal park, created by joining the two parks of Villa Gropallo and Villa Grimaldi, constitutes a well-kept green area, where typically Mediterranean and exotic plants abound.

What see

In the eighteenth-century Villa Serra, surrounded by a splendid garden, the collections of the modern art gallery are kept, including works by Ligurian and Italian artists, ranging from the nineteenth to the twentieth century.

Next to the municipal park is the Anita Garibaldi promenade, a suggestive pedestrian street carved out of the rock, from which it is possible to admire some very picturesque views.

In this street there is the Luxoro Civil Museum, which collects paintings, ceramics and numerous artistic objects.

In the surrounding area, starting from Sant'Ilario Basso, along a scenic road for about 3 km, it is possible to reach Sant'Ilario Alto, located at 195 meters above sea level, from which, along a path that winds through the olive trees, you get to to the Chapel of San Rocco.
