Nile river cruise: itinerary of historical sites

post-title

A cruise on the Nile represents one of the best ways to visit Egypt, especially the part between Luxor and Aswan where the river is interrupted by the large artificial dam of the same name which raised the river level by about sixty meters giving rise to the great lake Nasser.

Types of boats

To sail on the Nile, elegant traditional sailing boats are used, inspired by ancient and luxurious local boats.

The two main types of boats used for navigating the Nile River are sandals and dahabiehs.

The sandal is a large felucca, that is, a low boat with speed performance formed by two masts arranged in a Latin sail, which in ancient times was used to transport goods while today it has been transformed to accommodate wealthy passengers in cabins equipped with all comforts.

The elegant Dahabieh were used to transport the rich bourgeoisie in the early nineteenth century and have always been characteristic in the long tradition of the Nile.

Cruise

Navigation on these boats takes place under sail and is therefore silent and in keeping with the surrounding environment, allowing itself to be carried away by the river waters.

During the move tourist visits to the most important sites from the historical point of view and excursions in the middle of the desert to some oases and villages in Egypt along with other places of rare beauty and outside the norm can be reached only by using this romantic means of transport on the River Nile.
