The Saint of the 3 November is Saint Silvia, Mother of S. Gregorio Magno, which name day is celebrated and other saints who are celebrated on this date.
Santa Silvia
Silva was born in Rome around 520 in a family of low social background, Emiliana and Tarsilla were his sisters, who had also become saints.
In 538 Silvia su united in marriage with Senator Gordiano, descendant of the noble Roman family Gens Anicia, to whose family it seems that San Benedetto also belonged.
The couple established their residence in the Villa degli Anici on the Celio hill in Clivo di Scauro, in the place where the Church of San Gregorio al Celio is located today.
Silvia and Giordanio had two children, of whom the eldest son Gregorio was elected Pope in 590.
Widowed around 573, Silvia retired to a house on the Aventino, called Cella Nova, where she chose to follow the Benedictine rule, dedicating the rest of her existence to prayer, meditation, helping the sick and the most needy.
Instead, his son Gregorio remained in the paternal villa, which he turned into a monastery and where he built the church of San Gregorio al Celio.
At that time his mother did not fail to send him a hot meal daily, being worried that the narrowness imposed by the hermit life could cause a deterioration of Gregorio's already precarious health.
