Saint Lucilla of Rome
Lucilla, whose date of birth is unknown but is known to have died in Rome around the year 257, was a Christian virgin and martyr, today venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church.
The name Lucilla was attributed by the ancient Romans to the girls who were born at the dawn of the new day.
According to tradition, he lived at the time of the terrible persecutions carried out by the emperor Valerian in the third century.
Being blind from birth, she miraculously managed to see after her baptism was given.
The miracle obtained by her daughter converted her father Nemesio, who was a Roman tribune, to Christianity.
Nemesio remained adamant in the face of the warm invitations of the emperor who demanded his rapid return to the old religion.
For their Christian faith that they did not want to deny, Lucilla and her father were sentenced to death and were martyred along the Via Appia near the temple of Mars.
