Tourist information

Located in the province of Pistoia, Pescia is a town located along the banks of the stream of the same name, where an important flower market is located.

Linked to Lucca in medieval times, in 1281 it was destroyed after rebelling against the attempt of submission.


Rebuilt in 1286, it fell in 1339 under Florentine rule.

In Piazza Mazzini overlook the Palazzo del Vicario, built between 1200 and 1300, and the Church of the Madonna di Pie 'di Piazza, built in the fifteenth century on a design by Andrea Cavalcanti, nicknamed the Buggiano.

In the same square, in the Palazzo Galeotti there are the Civic Museum and the municipal Bibliteca.


What see

In the Museum of Geopaleontology and Mineralogy various materials of regional origin are exhibited, as well as Etruscan, Egyptian and Roman archaeological finds.

Inside the thirteenth-century Church of San Francesco, rebuilt in the sixteenth century and restored in the seventeenth century, remarkable works of art are preserved.

Not far away is the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate, dating back to the year 1000 and rebuilt in the 14th century, containing a fresco by Bicci di Lorenzo and a wooden Deposition from the 13th century at the right altar.

The Duomo was built at the end of the seventeenth century over a Romanesque church of which only the bell tower remains.

Inside the Cathedral there is the Turini Chapel, built by Giuliano di Baggio d'Agnolo, where there is the monument to Baldassarre Turini, the work of Raffaello Montelupo.
