post-title

What to see in Piedmont, useful information regarding geography and territory of this region of northern Italy, to discover tourist itineraries through enchanting landscapes.

Tourist information

Piedmont is a region of north-western Italy bordering on Switzerland, France, Aosta Valley, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna and Liguria.

Its provinces are Turin, Alessandria, Asti, Cuneo, Novara, Turin, Vercelli, Biella and Verbano-Cusio-Ossola.

In the Piedmont region, the western wing of the Alps, divided into Marittime, Cozie, Graie and Pennine, forms an imposing arch dominated by majestic mountains with peaks that exceed 3000 and 4000 meters above sea level.

Since the pre-Alpine belt is absent, the plain, which opens in a semicircle towards the east, is located a short distance from the base of this mighty natural barrier.

The aforementioned flat area also encompasses the hilly part of Piedmont, characterized by the historical natural regions of the Langhe, Monferrato and Roero, while a stretch of the Apennines stands out to the south on the border with Liguria.

Piedmont gives rise to the largest Italian river, the Po, which originates from the north-eastern side of the Monviso.

What see

The mountainous part of the region allows numerous excursions, ranging from simple walks in the foothills, to demanding excursions in the Alps, where there are also important centers for winter sports.

From an artistic point of view, Piedmont offers, in addition to the wonderful city of Turin and its surroundings, interesting itineraries that, crossing the region, lead to Cuneo, Asti, Alessandria.

The landscapes of Monferrato and Langhe are very beautiful, boasting beautiful towns such as Alba, in the Langhe and Acqui Terme in the upper Monferrato.
