Comment – Psalm 124 most likely refers to the time when the people of Israel were attacked by the coalition of Arabs and Ammonites, while he had just returned from exile and was rebuilding Jerusalem. Thanks to God's intervention, the enemies did not get the better. The canticle describes the fury with which the opponents fought and towards the end the liberation is compared to a bird that managed to escape the snare of the hunters.
Psalm 124 complete
[1] Song of the Ascensions. Di Davide. If the Lord had not been with us, say Israel,
[2] if the Lord had not been with us when men attacked us,
[3] they would have swallowed us alive, in the fury of their anger.
[4] The waters would have overwhelmed us; a stream would have submerged us,
[5] would have swept over rushing waters.
[6] Blessed be the Lord, who has not left us, prey to their teeth.
[7] We have been freed like a bird from the hunter's snare: the snare has broken and we have escaped.
[8] Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth.
