Psalm 25: complete, commentary

post-title

CommentHe who wrote Psalm 25 is inundated with humility remembering the many sins committed as a young man. Pervaded with dismay, seeing that many of those who had once been his friends have betrayed him for microscopic things, he asks God to look at him as a person now, not giving too much weight to the sins committed in the past, taking into account that he is now hated violently by many and he has no choice but to save himself from following the Lord, so his errors will eventually save him.

Psalm 25 complete

[1] Of David. To you, Lord, I raise my soul,

[2] My God, I trust in you: don't be confused! My enemies do not triumph over me!

[3] Whoever hopes for you will not be disappointed, whoever betrays for nothing is confused.

[4] Make your ways known, Lord, teach me your paths.

[5] Guide me in your truth and teach me, because you are the God of my salvation, in you I have always hoped.

[6] Remember, Lord, your love, your faithfulness which has always been.

[7] Do not remember the sins of my youth: remember me in your mercy, for your goodness, Lord.

[8] The Lord is good and upright, the right way for sinners;

[9] he guides the humble according to justice, teaches the poor his ways.

[10] All the paths of the Lord are truth and grace for those who keep his covenant and precepts.

[12] Who is the man who fears God? It shows him the way forward.

[13] He will live in wealth, his offspring will own the earth.

[14] The Lord reveals himself to those who fear him, makes known his covenant.

[15] I keep my eyes on the Lord, for he frees my foot from the snare.

[16] Turn to me and have mercy, because I am alone and unhappy.

[17] Relieve the anxieties of my heart, free me from troubles.

[18] See my misery and pain and forgive all my sins.

[19] Look at my enemies: they are many and they detest me with violent hatred.

[20] Protect me, give me salvation; I am not disappointed in your shelter.

[21] Integrity and righteousness protect me, because in you I have hoped.

[22] O God, free Israel from all its anxieties.
