Comment – The hardness of hearts is widespread among men and this, for the author of Psalm 4, is a sad sight, with the help of the Lord his heart is freed from anguish and fills with hope.
Psalm 4 complete
[1] To the choir master. For stringed instruments. Psalm. Di Davide.
[2] When I call upon you, answer me, God, my righteousness: from anguish you have freed me; have mercy on me, listen to my prayer.
[3] How long, O men, will you be hard of heart? Why do you love vain things and seek lies?
[4] Know that the Lord works wonders for his faithful one: the Lord listens to me when I invoke him.
[5] Tremble and do not sin, reflect and calm down on your bed.
[6] Offer sacrifices of righteousness and trust in the Lord.
[7] Many say: "Who will make us see the good?". May the light of your face shine upon us, Lord.
[8] You have brought more joy into my heart than when wine and wheat abound.
[9] In peace I lie down and immediately fall asleep: you alone, Lord, safely make me rest.
