Psalm 57: complete, commentary

post-title

CommentIn Psalm 57 we seem to see the situation of a righteous man who during his Babylonian exile found himself in a state of danger, risking to succumb to the persecutors of those who believe in God. This is why the salvation of God is invoked, with the courage to show to his enemies all his faith in the Lord, certain that the future Messiah will rise above the skies coming to his aid while he awaits refuge in the shadow of his wings.

Psalm 57 complete

[1] To the choir master. On "Do not destroy". Di Davide. Miktam. When he escaped from Saul into the cave.

[2] Have mercy on me, have mercy on me, O God, I take refuge in you; I take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the danger has passed.

[3] I will invoke God, the Most High, God who does me good.

[4] Send from heaven to save me from the hand of my persecutors, God send his faithfulness and his grace.

[5] I am like in the midst of lions, which devour men; their teeth are spears and arrows, their tongues sharp sword.

[6] Raise your glory above the sky, O God, over all the earth.

[7] They stretched a net at my feet, bent me, dug a pit in front of me and fell on it.

[8] My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is firm.

[9] I want to sing, I want to sing you: wake up, my heart, wake up harp, zither, I want to wake up the dawn.

[10] I will praise you among peoples, Lord, I will sing hymns to you among the nations.
