The convent of the Augustinian monks, originated from a monastery donated by Duke Guelfo I in 1073. After various destructions suffered during the Middle Ages, it was rebuilt between 1700 and 1750 with renewed splendor, to be then destroyed again during the secularization occurred in 1803.

The prior of the time, Herkulan Schweiger, managed to keep the convent church with the adjoining bell tower unscathed. Only a few buildings remain of the convent, in the past very large, including the fortified gate and the brewery.

What see

Externally very simple, the church harmoniously combines the three Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque architectural styles, while only the basic construction with a cross shape remains uncommon in the 1100s, uncommon in this area, the upper part of the nave and the bell tower they are from the 15th century.

But it was the baroque finishings of the eighteenth century and above all the rich plastering of the Schmuzer, father and son, who, together with the splendid frescoes by Matthaus Gunther, gave the church its current appearance.

This pomp is completed by the furnishings, which have remained valuable despite the sales made in 1803 of some pieces, as well as countless statues of angels, the facade of the organ, the four remaining side altars, the statues of the founders and the wonderful high altar.

The transepts were separated by walls after 1803. Instead of the current sacristy, the current main altar of the parish church of Peiting was previously located.

A particular jewel of Gothic sacred art is located on the first side altar on the right, looking from the choir, it is a precious late Gothic Madonna of 1483 that gives a fruit to the son.

About 500 meters from the church to the east, there is an octagonal chapel, “Frauenbrunnerl, built in 1688 on a source, on whose altar there is a reproduction of a Gothic Madonna of the fifteenth century.
