Renowned tourist resort of Salento, in Puglia, Santa Maria di Leuca stands on the promontory corresponding to the extreme tip of the spur of Italy, in the municipality of Castrignano del Capo, in the province of Lecce.

On the promenade there is a small sandy beach, as well as various equipped beaches along the low and rocky stretch of coast.


The whole Cape of Santa Maria di Leuca has a splendid coast characterized by very interesting sea caves of karstic origin, such as the one called the Three Doors, which can also be reached through paths along the rocky coast overlooking the sea.

What see

There are numerous caves that follow one another along the west and east sides of the cliff, each with its own history and particularities, which can be visited by sea.

Near Santa Maria di Leuca there are magnificent beaches, including Marina di Felloniche, an enchanting bay on the Ionian Sea embraced by a low coast, Marina di San Gregorio, with the remains of an ancient port, Torre Vado and the beaches of Posto Vecchio and Pescoluse, with a long and wide sandy coast, bathed by a crystal clear sea.

On the promontory of Leuca stands the Basilica Sanctuary of Santa Maria De Finibus Terrae, reachable from the port of Leuca by the road that leads to the coastal overview or through the imposing monumental staircase formed by two long steps separated by an artificial waterfall, built at the end of the Apulian aqueduct.
