San Cipriano and Cornelio
Cornelius, elected bishop of the church of Rome in 251, fought the Novatian heretics and strengthened his authority with the support of San Cipriano.
Emperor Gallus sent him into exile at Civitavecchia, where he died in 253.
His body was transported to Rome and buried in the cemetery of Callisto.
Cyprian, born in Carthage around 210 to pagan parents, converted to the faith and was ordained a priest, subsequently he was elected bishop of the city in 249.
He righteously governed the church, using examples and writings, in what were considered very difficult times.
During the period of the persecution of Valerian, he was first sentenced to exile, subsequently, on September 14, 258, he was martyred.
