Ancient Etruscan village later destroyed by the Romans, in the Middle Ages Soriano nel Cimino took the name of Surianum and was a fief of many families before going to the Chigi in the sixteenth century.

In the upper part of the town is located the Orsini Castle, characterized by a tower that rises from one of the two courtyards that compose it.

The Collegiate Church of San Nicola, dating from the eighteenth century, is dominated by a dome and squeezed between two bell towers, with a terracotta facade, inside there is a remarkable fifteenth-century baptismal font.

What see

Palazzo Chigi-Albani looks like an imposing building, built in the sixteenth century on a design by Vignola and remodeled in the eighteenth century.

The Fonte Papacqua is very interesting, characterized by mythical figures carved in stone.

Among the excursions to do in the area is that of Monte Cimino, about 8 km away and a little over a thousand meters high, which is one of the most enchanting places in the province of Viterbo.
