After the declaration of independence from Mexico in 1836, Texas remained an independent state for a decade under the name of the Republic of Texas until it became a member of the United States of America in 1845.

The surface of the territory of Texas is very large and ranks second in size among all US states after Alaska.

What see

Austin is the capital of Texas as well as being the county seat of Travis County. Located in the central part of the state Austin is one of the fastest growing metropolises.


Houston, has a much larger population than Austin and also represents one of the largest economic areas of this state. Located in Harris County, it also extends partly to Fort Bend and Montgomery County.

Dallas instead it is the third largest city in Texas, located in the homonymous county, and plays a particularly important role in the economy of the central-southern United States, being the main economic and cultural center of the metropolitan area Dallas-Forth Worth-Arlington commonly also called Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.

Part of this thriving city borders on the counties of Collin, Denton, Kaufman and Rockwall.

Hundreds of large companies are established in Dallas and its airport is one of the largest in the world for commercial traffic.
