What does nerd mean, an acronym that has become commonly used especially among young people, born in a derogatory sense but then became a fashionable and rampant term, able to assign a discreet charm to those who are the recipient.


Meaning of nerd

With the term nerd is frequently defined, although not always with good reason, an individual who usually spends part of his time, including the night, in front of the computer, with almost total absence of social life.

Usually a nerd is represented graphically as a young person with glasses with large lenses mounted on a black frame, often broken and held together with common adhesive tape.


He also keeps a pen case in his breast pocket to avoid the danger that the innumerable pens that he carries behind will irreparably stain the shirts or jackets worn with ink.

He usually wears trousers with a high hem, overly formal clothes for most circumstances.

Relationships with the opposite sex are scarce, sometimes absent, it is also characterized by an excessively thin or fat physique, which highlights a marked neglect for one's own physical form.


He prefers discussions only on the technical-scientific issues that interest him.

From the word nerd comes the verb nerdare, which means to act precisely following the typical behaviors of a nerd.

Put simply, nerdy indicates the attitude of those who show excessive interest in PCs, video games, TV series, cinema, science fiction and new technologies.
