How to make soup with white onions, flour, butter, nut broth, slices of gruyere cheese, toasted homemade bread, salt and pepper.
Ingredients for 4 people
- 500 g of white onions
- 80 g of butter
- 40 g of flour
- 1 liter and 1/4 of nut broth
- 100 g of gruyere cheese cut into thin slices
- 4 slices of toasted homemade bread
- salt and freshly ground pepper
How to prepare white onion soup
Clean and finely slice the onions and brown them in butter for a few minutes.
Continue cooking by adding the white flour, then stir for a long time to mix everything well.
Wet the mixture with a generous liter of hot broth, pouring in a little at a time, mix and cook over low heat for about thirty minutes.

Add the salt if necessary.
Place the toasted slices of bread in a baking dish, cover them with the onion soup, pepper and put the gruyere slices on top.
Put in a hot oven and leave to brown until the surface takes on a golden color.
Serve hot.
