What to see in Wildsteig, an itinerary to discover this mountain village located along the Romantic Road in Bavaria, where it is worth visiting the beautiful Church of San Giacomo.
Tourist information
The village of Wildsteig is immersed in a landscape composed of national parks characterized by rare plants and animals, for this reason some consider it also an ideal place to rest.
What see
The graceful church, dedicated to San Giacomo, received its present appearance in the second half of the XVIII century.
Externally very modest, it hides a clear and bright interior, where fine plastering by the master Thassilo Zopf and his disciple Doll show both baroque and classicistic characteristics.
The remarkable frescoes are the work of the Oberammenrgau artist Franz S. Zwinck, also known as "Luftlmaler".
Noteworthy is also the high altar with a painting by Johann Degler and with the two excellent late Gothic statues, which in the past decorated the Gothic altar of the conventual church of Rottenbuch.
