Nicolò Copernico resumed and supported this theory which was confirmed by Galileo Galilei in 1610. Only in 1728, about two thousand years later, the Greek scholar's thesis was experimentally verified.
Using a huge telescope, British astronomer James Bradley saw that the stars seemed to move very slowly as the Earth revolved around the Sun.
