The Saint of the day April 12 is San Zeno Verona, which name day is celebrated and other saints who are celebrated on this date.
San Zeno Verona
Zeno, known familiarly by the Zeno Veronese, came from Northern Africa and had studied in Carthage.
He became bishop of Verona in the mid-fourth century and left deep traces of devotion, so much so that one of the most beautiful existing Romanesque churches is dedicated to him.
He left us some sermons, in which he recognizes his activity against heretics.
Zeno's main concern was to strengthen faith in the clergy and people, especially with his example which consisted of behaving in charity, humility and generosity towards the poor.
He is depicted with the fish in his hand, a symbol of the "soul fisherman" function, but the faithful prefer to recognize in this the fact that, for humility, he procured the humble meal he lived by fishing.
